"The 2020 Barbareño, the estate's Syrah/Petite Sirah blend, is another fabulous wine in this range from Refugio Ranch. A reduction in Petite Sirah works well here. There's still an extra kick of richness from the Petite, but not so much as to overpower it, as was sometimes the case. Ripe dark cherry, plum, leather, menthol, spice, chocolate, scorched earth and dried herbs all build. The Barbareño balances power and tension with style."
